Fresh Restaurant
The Food at Fresh
We work with our local farmers, growers and purveyors to source products with integrity, flavor and soul, and incorporate these seasonal offerings into our menus nightly. The result is food that is honest, straightforward and pays homage to the bounty of the midcoast region we are so privileged to call home. Using ingredients at their peak and preparing them minimally and with respect allows us to capture the essence of the season and bring it straight to your table.
The Bar at Fresh
Fresh features an innovative, freestanding bar. A complete renovation of the previous restaurant space has transformed into one of the most inviting and intimate bars in downtown Camden. Tightly arranged and crafted from granite, glass and lightly stained Douglas Fur, with century-old exposed wood beams in the ceiling still intact, the bar at Fresh recalls a bygone era of Camden nightlife, and Fresh's emphasis on classic cocktails continues the town's historic traditions.
Our team of passionate and experienced mixologists offer an extensive lineup of historic and modern cocktails on the bar menu, which is designed to honor the traditional spirits of New Engalnd and trace the historical lineage of regional mixology. Patrons can sit either at the bar or at intimately arranged granite-topped bar tables in our adjacent lounge area and savor some of the most delicious drinks in Camden. It is a place to relax, to wait for a table in the main dining room, and always a discovery of new tastes derived from old virtues.
The Wines at Fresh
Our value-driven wine list features over 50 different selections. Our wines, like our food, are never static and change with the seasons. Labels range from interesting newcomers to Old-World classics from small-production winemakers who put as much love and care into their wines as we put into our food.
Happy Hour
Fresh now offers a Daily Happy Hour from Open to 6pm. Enjoy great pricing on our large selection of draft beers, select cocktails, bottled wine and delicious oysters and Jonah crab claws. Fresh offers one of the most inviting and intimate bars in downtown Camden.
Fiore Artisan Olive Oils
Fiore Artisan Olive Oils are featured daily at Fresh. Located nearby in Rockland, Maine, Fiore Artisan Olive Oils & Vinegars is forging a new image of the modern artisan. From a true respect for the olive tree to the insistence on quality and authenticity, FIORE's extra virgin unfiltered olive oil (EVOO) offers transparency and purity for the consumer who respects the harmony of nature and nutrition.

Bakery Team:
Mark Vogt, Bakery Manager/Head Pastry Chef
Mark’s background includes a degree in culinary arts from the Culinary Institute of America and has spent the past 17 years working his way up thru the ranks on both the sweet and savory sides of the kitchen in restaurants, hotels and resorts around the country. Mark's true passion is creating decadent pastries, desserts & breads, which he has focused on the past several years of his career. After completing a 4-year advanced apprenticeship in pastries and baking at Cherokee Town & Country Club in Atlanta, under the direction of Certified Master Pastry Chef Chris Northmore, Mark and his wife Rebecca moved to Maine in 2000 to raise their son Hayden. Since being in Maine, Mark has worked as the Director of Food Services at the Five Towns Community School District, where he helped transform the school food service program, making healthier meals for kids and working with local farmers to provide fresh fruits & vegetables. Mark's most recent work, before joining Fresh, was as Pastry Chef at nearby Point Lookout Resort in Lincolnville. Mark joined Fresh in October of 2012 as our Bakery Manager & Head Pastry Chef and we look forward to enjoying his sweet creations and helping take Fresh to even higher levels of quality & service.
Barb Alpern, Head Baker
Barb Alpern moved to Camden from Michigan when we hired her as head baker and bakery manager this past spring just before opening our new Bakery & Market. Barb jumped at the chance to embrace her passion for baking bread in a place she said she had "really fond memories of" after spending two years living in Maine earlier in her life. Alpern's diverse background includes a graduate degree in creative writing and nearly a decade of experience baking at the nationally recognized Ann Arbor-based bakery Zingerman's Bakehouse. Alpern got her start baking at a "tiny" bakery in college, and learned a great deal about baking from her years at Zingerman's. Alpern came to Maine armed with her own rye and sourdough starters. Fresh, local ingredients are of the utmost importance to Barbara, and Fresh Bakery and Market sources many of our flours from local mills. Fresh uses ingredients that do not contain preservatives and obtains rye flour milled at Morgan's Mill in Union and some flour from Fiddler's Farm in Belfast.
