Dining at the Samoset Resort
The Samoset offers four different onsite dining options; La Bella Vita, Enoteca lounge, the Clubhouse Grille, and the Spanish Pool Bar. La Bella Vita is an Italian Restaurant designed around the theme of an authentic Italian town square with distinguished dining areas that overlook the Italian piazza (Public Square) and mercato (Market). Enoteca Lounge is modeled on the local urban Italian wine shop where one can find simple foods to accompany the wines served there. The Splash Pool Bar offers lighter fare and a variety of favorite libations on its outside deck for hours soaking up the sun and savoring the sea air. To round out your dining pleasure, indulge in a championship golf course view at the Clubhouse Grille.
La Bella Vita Ristorante
For Italians, food is life. And life is food. Whenever families and friends gather to eat, the conversation centers on food, local cooking and the warmth of the dinner table. At La Bella Vita we celebrate that passion for the good life and good food. As they do in Italy, we use only the freshest ingredients - with an emphasis on garden-grown vegetables and healthy olive oil - to prepare the same wonderfully flavorful centuries old dishes only Italians can make. You don’t have to live in Italy to live like an Italian. Just experience La Bella Vita and you’ll enjoy the passion for the good life. Buon Appetito!
The new culinary experience, La Bella Vita, will be approachable, intimate and engaging, referencing
Trattorias surrounding the Piazzas of Italy. The interior design will complement the artful manner
in which the food is prepared and served at the Antipasto Bar and Marketplace. The rustic finishes
and textural materials will be genuine elements most commonly found in domestic Italian kitchens,
such as marble, wood, copper and iron.
Lighting and decorative fixtures will be strategically placed to enhance the food and create an intimate
atmosphere; subtly illuminating the diverse dining areas.
The color palate of the interior and patterns of the carpets and fabrics will be derived from both the
food and the rich Italian history. The luminous colors of the ocean provide an additional dimension
to the dining experience at Bella Vita.
Splash Pool Bar
Located next to our new outdoor heated zero-entry, free form pool with sweeping views of the Atlantic lies the new Splash Pool Bar. Colorful seasonal blooms, lighter fare and your favorite libations make it easy to linger longer on the deck for hours soaking up the sun and savoring the sea air. Casual Dress.
Open Daily – Weather Permitting. Check with the restaurant to confirm operating hours during the off-season.
Splash Pool Bar will be closing for the season on Sunday, October 2nd, 2011.
Thank you for a great season and we'll see you next year!
Enoteca Lounge
La Bella Vita is an Italian Restaurant designed around the theme of an authentic Italian town square with distinguished dining areas that overlook the Italian piazza (Public Square) and mercato (Market). Each area is individually designed and contributes to the warmth and unique Italian atmosphere. Upon entering La Bella Vita’s vibrant world, guests are drawn into the convivial Italian inspired bar area following the footprint of the local urban Italian wine shop (Enoteca). A term commonly used in Italy to refer to a place where one can find simple foods to accompany the wines served there.
A live action antipasto bar, pizziolas and wood fired oven set the theatrical culinary stage in the Italian Piazza… centered between the Enoteca Lounge and main dining room it focuses on the diverse flavors and soul of an Italian Salumeria. It provides the perfect place where guests can linger over small plates of antipasti and wine.
Opposite the antipasto bar is a lounge area with living room style seating, cozy fireplace, communal wine-tasting tables and a wall of etched glass featuring an ample stock of wine peaking through dimly lit glass cabinets. The walls at the other end of the lounge are covered with giant floor to ceiling slabs of slate, a place where daily specials are chalked up for everyone to see between large Italian wall murals.
Beyond the eye catching Enoteca lounge and bustle of the antipasto bar one enters into the comparative calm of the main dining room and outside terrace that both provide a serene setting for superior dining. This area is flanked on one side by a private dining room that is enclosed with floor to ceiling glass etched with hand-written Italian translations like; Famiglia (family), Recordi (memories), Cucina (food), and Vini Rossi (red wine), rustic farm table, and wine display. This area provides for a visual but quite retreat for a special family gathering. At the far end of the main dining room is the mercato (Italian Market) that bustles with excitement and culinary abundance by morning and on special occasions. On the other end of the dining room is another private dining room featuring a rustic wood planked table, wine display, Italian wall mural and spectacular ocean views. The exterior patio terrace is a place for both serene contemplation as well as a vantage point to survey and celebrate the spectacular views. That patio embraces a contemporary lifestyle with a modern fire-pit, a favorite spot for summer dining or a light bite. Field stone retaining walls create a transition from the patio and the working herb gardens to the expansive grounds and ocean beyond.
Clubhouse Grille
The Clubhouse Grille overlooks the Samoset Resort's 18-hole championship golf course. The Clubhouse Grille offers a variety of signature dishes including light lunches and full bar service. The Clubhouse Grille offers inside seating featuring a 50 inch flat screen TV and outside seating on the restaurant's covered porch from late spring to early fall weather permitting.
Lunch 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Full bar 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Check with the restaurant to confirm operating hours during the off-season.
Samoset Resort Golf
Championship Golf
Begin your golf vacation with a course offering breathtaking ocean vistas and complete your round on one of the most challenging finishing holes in New England. With the completion of our 474 yard, par four 18th the Samoset Resort continues to be ranked one of New England's premier resort golf destinations. In 2002, the Samoset Resort Golf Club celebrated 100 years of golf.
Samoset's 18-hole championship golf course will delight both the serious and recreational player. The course meanders along the coast and through the woods, boasting seven oceanside holes and ocean vistas from 14 holes. The golf complex includes a clubhouse with an indoor/outdoor grille, golf range, practice green, short game facility with bunkers and private or group instruction.
Designed by Robert Elder in 1902, Samoset Resort celebrated its centennial year in 2002. The course features some of the most spectacular views of Penobscot Bay, with a granite seawall separating the golfer from the Atlantic Ocean. Samoset Resort was also a qualifying event on the former Nike Tour. Recent upgrades by Maine architect Bradley Booth have strengthened the resort's reputation of having a premier championship layout.
In addition to the newer 18th, the par-five 4th, Samoset's legendary signature hole that plays alongside Penobscot Bay, has undergone extensive enhancements to the green and surrounding area. The hole now boasts an impressive stone seawall that encompasses the contoured green with added bunkers and elevation. Coupled with the redesigned 185-yard par-three 5th hole (formally a par-four), featuring a demanding uphill slope and a tee box located directly above the seawall on Penobscot Bay, playing to a heavily bunkered bank to front sloping green, the golf course has certainly increased its ability to challenge golfers.
