Laite Memorial Beach Park
Laite Memorial Beach Park - a small and picturesque harbor beach overlooking Camden Harbor and Penobscot Bay
Laite Memorial Beach is a hidden gem within the Camden community. It is a small, low key and relaxing harbor beach with no fees and easy access to the oceanfront and the waters of Camden Harbor. The park can be difficult to spot from the road as all you will see from the street are some swings and a few picnic tables. The park sits on a hillside with a children's playground, public bathrooms, outdoor grills, and even an outdoor shower. The park features a large grass embankment that gently slopes down a hill to the water. At the base of the embankment, you will find a magnificent pebble beach sweeping along the shoreline of outer Camden Harbor.
You can view Camden Harbor and Penobscot Bay from Laite Memorial Beach as well as the Camden Hills and Mount Battie in the background. With its everchanging beach width because of the ocean tides, the beach provides a good venue for kids to explore the beach's shoreline for sea shells, snails and other types of sealife. During the summer months, there is a swimming platform anchored a 100 feet offshore for those who do not mind swimming in the brisk cool waters of the Atlantic ocean. There is no lifeguard on duty, however, so parents will need to keep a watchful eye on their children when swimming in the open waters of the harbor.
Children will have the most fun in Laite Memorial Beach because of the welcoming grassy park area with swings. The Children’s Amphitheater also offers different activities for children during the summer. The park has bathroom facilities, picnic tables, and grills. Laite Memorial Beach is the perfect place for the whole family to unwind for a bit, especially after a hot summer's day of sightseeing and shopping in the local Camden area. This small harbor park is the perfect place for small children as well as a nice location to have a family picnic or to just sit back and enjoy the local coastal harbor scenery.
