Country Inn - Putting Relaxation First in your Camden Vacation Stay
While the Camden area lends itself to full days packed with sightseeing and adventure, it is also an ideal spot to sit still and unplug. The Country Inn at Camden/Rockport provides both options. With its country touches and “home away from home” feel, the Country Inn provides affordable and impeccably maintained lodging accommodations with some high-end amenities and services that allow guests to truly relax.
Nestled on wooded grounds, this modern inn is known for its cottage neighborhood feel and New England architectural features. This lodging facility, open year round, has 36 spacious guestrooms equipped with 2 queen beds or 1 king size bed and sleeper sofas. In the warmer months (May-October), guests have the option to stay in one of the eleven distinctive cottages with a choice of 47 guest rooms. Two luxury cottage suites have a sit-in Jacuzzi for two. All rooms are non-smoking, have private baths, and balconies or patios with seating. Pet rooms are available in designated rooms. The friendly staff even stocks these suites with a pet bed, dishes, paw wiping towels, and all natural treats to make your furry friends feel special.
Attention to detail is apparent in every room, from the bedspreads to the soap holders. Convenient features like the coffee machine, fridge, and microwave make it feel even more like home. There are plenty of other room amenities like air conditioning, complimentary WiFi, wet bar, television with DVD player, and in-room coffee service to enjoy during your stay. Most notably, all rooms are exceptionally clean and immaculately maintained.
A full breakfast buffet is a complimentary perk for all guests, and is served daily between 7:00 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. It’s impossible to leave hungry when enjoying this comprehensive spread of waffles (drizzled with pure Maine maple syrup), quiche, sweet breads, fresh fruit, cereal, bagels, toast, English muffins and a full selection of hot and cold beverages. It’s the perfect start to the day before venturing into downtown Camden and Camden Harbor.
A fun fact for guests is that the Country Inn is the first hotel lodging in Rockport to install solar panels. It’s one of only few properties in the Camden/Rockport area to receive Maine’s Environmental Leader Certification as a Lodging Business.
Unwinding Starts at Check-In
The atmosphere here sets the scene for relaxation the minute you step onto the property. It’s situated away from U.S. Route One, giving guests privacy and enough silence to hear the birds. At arrival, guests realize that the lobby is much more than a check-in desk. It’s a welcoming sight for travelers looking to catch their breath after a long trip. There is an expansive sitting area filled with couches, televisions, WiFi access, games, and an impressive book collection that goes back as far as the 1930s. Local artwork lines the walls, and the fireplace blazes on cooler days. Refreshments are always available in the lobby, whether it’s teatime in the afternoon or artisan cheeses, crackers, and warm chocolate chip cookies in the evening. There are also child play areas (indoors and outdoors) equipped with games and other entertainment as well as an on-site gift shop that carries plenty of Made in Maine items like the famous lobster rope outdoor mats. After you get situated in your room, it’s time to unwind. The heated 20′ X 40′ pool (with a lap lane) is an ideal place to start. In the warmer months, coastal breezes flow through the spa area. Guests can also enjoy the hot tub, dry sauna, or exercise room that includes a full range of cardio machines and free weights. Massage spa services are available, too. Tracy Rescigno, LMT, NMT is a Licensed Massage Therapist in the state of Maine with over eight years experience, as well as a certified Neuromuscular Therapist for chronic and acute muscle injuries.
Breakfast is also an opportunity to stretch your legs and watch the world go by. You can enjoy your morning coffee in the expansive garden area, brimming with flowers, bird feeders, an old stone well house, and plentiful seating areas. Groundskeepers maintain the Country Inn courtyard each day, providing a scenic resting spot for guests.
Since relaxation can jump start the appetite, it works out well that the famous Blue Sky Cantina is a stone’s throw away from the Country Inn. The owner Ron and his wife Jennifer have a passion for authentic Mexican cooking. Whatever you’re craving, whether it’s salsa and chips or fish tacos, it’s sure to be seasonal, fresh, innovative, and mouth watering. There are three seating areas here – the main downstairs, the upstairs lounge/bar (the moonlight, star-filled corridor ascent brings you there), and the outdoor patio. The vibrant restaurant décor really sets the stage for a special meal, best experienced with good company and a nice cold drink. The hard-to-find Pacifico (a Pilsner-style Mexican beer popular among California surfers) is on tap and refreshing on a hot summer day. Blue Sky Cantina also offers Dos Equis, unique tequila, and plenty of margarita specials. Depending on the night you dine here, you’re pretty likely to catch some live musical entertainment during your meal. Luckily, after a full evening of food and spirits, you can walk back to your Country Inn room. Or, if you are up for more entertainment, head over to the Golfers Crossing miniature golf course located next door. With contoured greens, elevation changes, water hazards, and natural rock landscaping, it’s a fun course!
